East Bali Cashews is the first modern, large-scale cashew-processing facility in Indonesia. East Bali Cashews purchases local cashews directly from farmers, processes the kernels using renewable energy sources, and then packages and sells them to domestic and international markets.  The factory is located in the rural village of Ban in the Karangasem district of east Bali and currently employes over 350 residents from the neighboring village of Ban, 90 percent of whom are women who previously had no employment opportunities.  The company has expanded its activities to include a sustainable farming instruction program, The Cashew Families Foundation- a non-profit/social enterprise hybrid focused on sponsoring community education, a subsidized community store, and an early learning center that offers children within the village a comprehensive pre-elementary education and a healthy diet.  We are proud that the home office of Red River Foods is right here in Richmond!  Come by and try their fantastic snacks!
