Wine Club - June 2018

Sens du Fruit Balnc – Domaine Jonc Blanc (2015)

Grape Variety(s): Semillon, Sauvignon Gris, Sauvignon Blanc

Style: Dry White

Region: Bergerac, France

Winemaker: Franck Pascal

Soil: Clay/Limestone

Age of Vines: 30 yrs

The estate gets its name from the place called: Jonc Blanc or “White Rush.” It is a limestone outcrop with very poor soil and little soil. The family culivates the vine according to the principles of Biodynamics - certified by Demeter - and have been vinifiying their wines without inputs for many years!

This dry and rich white wine is made from 35% Sauvignon Gris, 35% Sauvignon Blanc and 30% Semillon. Vinified in stainless steel vats, aged on fine lees. A powerful fruit, very ripe with a nice balance, a round and ample mouth on a fresh and tonic finish. This is a lovely, atypical white wine we hope you enjoy. Lovely with fish!

Rosso da Tavola – Azienda Agricola Cirelli (2017)

Grape Variety(s): Montepulciano

Style: Dry Red

Region: Abruzzo, Italy

Winemaker: Francesco Cirelli

Soil: Calcium and Clay

Age of Vines: 5 yrs

Agricola Cirelli is an organic farm surrounded by 23 hectares of land. All of its production is designed to respect the natural cycles of the olive trees, vineyards, horticultural crops and the animal breeding. Crop rotation, natural fertilization, and free range animal grazing are Agricola Cirelli’s “techniques” of production. This harmonious environment creates olive oil, wine, vegetables, fruit and meats of supreme quality.
This Rosso is the red counterpart to the Rosato from last month. Same grapes, but the fermenting juice stays on the skins for more days and extracts more color and tannin. This is a lovely pizza red with some nice juiciness and ripe berry flavors. Enjoy it with a slight chill!
